Beatriz Afonso Santos

A native of Venezuela, Beatriz obtained a Bachelor in Arts with honours in Drama by ESADT-University of Kent (Madrid Headquarters 2007). She has focused her training in physical theatre, participating in several workshops in Europe and Latin America including: Clown (Alain Vigneau- FR), Anthropology of the movement and Comedia dell Arte (Claudia Contín- IT), Neutral Mask (Jeremy James- CA-AU), Performance-installation (Jill Greenhald- WLS), Schinca technique of body expression (Laura de Arcos- ES), Corporal mimesis and dynamics with objects (LUME- BR), Suzuki (Maria Porter- USA) and Introduction to masks (Sonia Norris- CA). She founded the theatre company Áncora Teatro in Spain in 2007. She directed two plays with the company Fragments of Psychosis 4.48 based on the text of Sarah Kane (2007) and “Cabaret Diphuso”; inspired in the book Patty Diphusa by Pedro Almodovar (2008). In 2011-2012 she toured around Australia as the director of You got live with it, a physical theatre comedy, and work as the director assistant in the dance show Moments through glass. In 2014 she started the research and creation of Theatre Recipes between Spain, Brazil and Venezuela. She has worked as a performer and scene director in Venezuela, Spain, Brazil, Australia and Canada. She focuses her artistic research in different lines of corporal theatre, and in the relations of woman with their femininity and masculinity. She also works as a creative writer. 

Originaria de Venezuela. Obtuvo la Licenciatura en Arte Dramático, especialidad Dirección de Escena, por la ESADT-Universidad de Kent (Inglaterra – sede España). Continúa su formación con talleres de Clown (Alain Vigneau- FR), Antropología del movimiento y Comedia dell Arte (Claudia Contín- IT), Mascara Neutra (Jeremy James- CA-AU), Intervención-performance (Jill Greenhald- WLS), Técnica Schinca de expresión corporal (Laura de Arcos- ES), Mímesis corpórea y dinámica con objetos (LUME- BR), Suzuki (Maria Porter- USA).Fundadora del grupo Áncora Teatro en España en el año 2007. Dentro de la compañía dirigió la obra “Fragmentos de Psicosis 4.48” inspirada en la obra de Sarah Kane (2007) y “Cabaret Diphuso” inspirado en Patty Diphusa de Pedro Almodovar (2008). También dirigió por cuenta propia la pieza gestual “You gotta live with it” (2011) con la que viajo por Australia. En el año 2014 comienza la investigación y creación del solo “Recetas de teatro” que desarrolla entre España, Brasil y Venezuela. Ha trabajado como intérprete y directora de escena en Venezuela, España, Brasil, Australia y Canadá. Enfoca su investigación como creadora en diversas líneas de trabajo corporal dentro del teatro y en las relaciones de las mujeres con su feminidad y masculinidad. También se dedica a la escritura creativa.
