Georgina Escobar is a Mexican-American writer & maker of sci-femme narratives, musicals, and frontera-futurity stories.

Georgina Escobar is a Mexican-American writer & maker of sci-femme narratives, musicals, and frontera-futurity stories. She is a MacDowell Fellow, Djerassi Artist, Fornés & Clubbed Thumb Writing Group writer, & a La Mama Umbria Playwright. She is a recipient of the National Kennedy Center's Darrell Ayers Award and Outstanding Service to Women on the Border Award. Her work has been published in The Texas Review, Los Bárbaros, Routledge, McSweeney’s  Press: "I Know What's Best For You", Climate Change Theatre Action's "Lighting The Way", New Passport Press, and IntiPress (UK). Her plays have been produced across the USA and internationally in México, UK, Italy, Denmark, and Sweden. She is an O'Neill NMTC Writer (Little Duende) NPC Finalist (Stoneheart), Kilroy's List 2019, and NAMT writer. Her work has been performed Off Broadway at INTAR. Other presenters include New York Children’s Theatre, Clubbed Thumb, Lincoln Center, Bushwick Starr, and regional theatres including Two Rivers, Milagro, Aurora Theatre, Duke City Rep, Greenhouse Theatre, and more. She is the recipient of the inaugural Gotahm and Variety Audio Honors award for groundbreaking audio storytelling (Musings). Directing credits include Death and The Tramp (Portland OR), Alebrijes (Portland OR, El Paso TX, Puerto Vallarta MX), Bicycle Country (Atlanta, GA), La Casa Azul (Indianapolis & Carmel IN), Adamandi (Princenton NJ), The Book Club Play (Greely, CO). She is currently developing three musicals: (book) FINDING FRIDA with composer Jaime Lozano, THE VINYL CAFE (book) with musical writing duo Akiva Romer Segal and Colleen Dauncey,  and COME ON LET'S GO (book) with Louie Perez and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos.  As an arts educator she has taught at Kingsborough College NY, University of Texas El Paso, Princeton University and Dartmouth College. georginaescobar.com
