Marcus Youssef

Marcus is a playwright and artistic director of Vancouver, Canada's Neworld Theatre. 

Marcus Youssef’s fifteen plays, about half written with a number of pals, include Winners and Losers, Leftovers, King Arthur’s Night, Jabber, How Has My Love Affected You, Ali & Ali and the aXes of Evil, Everyone, AdriftPeter Panties, Chloe’s Choice and A Line in the Sand.  They have been performed at venues including Canadian Stage, Young People's Theatre, Tarragon, Arts Club, Factory, The Citadel, Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Dublin Theatre Festival, Soho Rep (NYC), FTA, PuSh, Noorderzon (Netherlands), Brighton Festival, LOKAL (Reykjavik), Ca Foscari (Venice), GRIPS and Foreign Affairs (Berlin), Aarhus Festival (Denmark) and On the Boards (Seattle). Marcus is the recipient of the Siminovitch Prize for Theatre, the Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award, the Rio-Tinto Alcan Performing Arts Award, the Chalmer's Canadian Play Award, the Seattle Times Footlight Award, the Vancouver Critics’ Choice award (three times), and the Canada Council Staunch-Lynton Award.
