Michael Wright

Michael Wright is playwright, novelist, poet, dramaturg and workshop presenter.

Michael Wright is an internationally renowned teacher, playwright, poet, novelist, dramaturg and workshop presenter. He has conducted writing workshops in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Poland, Greece, Sweden, and Hungary, among other locales, and for numerous national and regional programs in the United States, including the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. His plays have received multiple productions in New York, Baltimore, Chicago, El Paso, Tulsa and Washington, D.C.

His books on providing writers with scripting inspiration and insight (rather than “how to”) include Playwriting in Process, Playwriting Master Class and Sensory Writing for Stage and Screen.

His novels include Down the Ocean: Summer of ’64, The Chessmen, In the Air, and the short story collection, Purely Gone and Other Departures.

Wright is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of America and PEN America.
