Rick Davis

Rick Davis is a director, dramaturg, translator, and librettist, and serves as Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University in Virginia.

Rick Davis joined George Mason University in 1991 as Artistic Director of Theater of the First Amendment. TFA, which closed in 2012, produced dozens of premieres, many of which have gone on to further production, publication, and broadcast. Rick worked at Baltimore Center Stage as Resident Dramaturg and Associate Artistic Director, and has directed for TFA, Center Stage, Kennedy Center, American Ibsen Theater, Unseam'd Shakespeare Company, Players Theatre Columbus, Delaware Theatre Company, Lake George Opera, Opera Idaho, and the IN Series, among others. He is Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts and Executive Director of Mason's Hylton Performing Arts Center, and teaches in the School of Theater. He studied at Lawrence University (BA) and Yale School of Drama (MFA, DFA).
