Sidney T. Smith

Sidney Smith is a Chicago-based disability advocate who daylights as a bio-medical engineer and corporate executive. He is a founder and President of the EnAbles employee resource group at Shire. Sid began losing his hearing in grade school and today is profoundly deaf.  In college he found a home backstage on Madwoman of Chaillot. Offstage ever since, he was thrilled to be SFX Director for the world premier of Tricks of the Trade.

Through his service with ADA25Chicago and the Chicago Community Trust Persons with Disabilities Board, Sid’s association with Aaron Sawyer and Red Theater drew him into the Chicago theater scene as an inclusion advocate. A graduate of Millikin University with degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Studies, Sid is at home on the Northshore where he is restoring a native oak savanna.
