We are thrilled to introduce the new HowlRound Fellow, Adewunmi Oke! Adewunmi will be joining us in July, and will play an integral role in the HowlRound team, providing key support for all of our knowledge platforms, and editing the HowlRound blog.

Adewunmi R. Oke is from Columbus, Mississippi (the birthplace of Tennessee Williams) by way of Atlanta, Georgia. She has an interest in new play development and adaptations of the classics. She has an MFA in Dramaturgy from UMass Amherst and a BA in Theatre from the University of Southern Mississippi. Last spring, she was the Festival Dramaturg for the Five College Multicultural Theatre Committee’s WORD! Festival. She also produced Black/queer/diaspora/womyn Festival as part of her MFA thesis project, which examined the work of women playwrights Sharon Bridgforth and Trey Anthony. She was the dramaturg for the Atlanta premiere of Marcus Gardley’s every tongue confess at Horizon Theatre. Other production dramaturgy credits include Suzan-Lori Parks’ Venus at UMass Amherst; Elyzabeth G. Wilder’s Gee’s Bend at Arkansas Repertory; and Jon Jory’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Adewunmi is a lover of good food, music, and laughter. She has an eclectic taste in music, dabbling in the blues, jazz, funk, Hip Hop, classical, gospel, alternative, world, and country genres. Occasionally, she bursts out in song and dance during random moments.

Please join us in welcoming Adewunmi! We can’t wait to have her with us!
