When I find a play itching at the back of brain, it is usually sparked by something that I saw and/or heard that just didn't set right with me and raises what I call 'the human question' that I come to frame and poise in my plays. With the murder of George Floyd that created another bonfire of hyper-awareness of a problem that has long been going on, it kindled old flames of a play that I have been wanting to write for ten years now. It raises questions on both sides of the fence, within the Black American Community and Society looking in and the social media that help formulate and feed these perspective prejudices that are nurtured and cultivated within and without and reinforced in social mythology that fuels and fans those unspoken fear that breeds whispers of hate. So as an white Anglo-Saxon raising honest questions about things that I see happening as I try approach Black American issues, trying understand their own personal struggle that I see, but that never really understand because I'm not black. How would do as a playwright go about trying understand a point a view, such a guy trying to write from a woman's point of view or a white guy trying to understand what it means to be black trying to mentally walk a mile in another persons shoes?
