Catherine Mueller

Catherine Mueller Melwani is an actor/creator and educator based in NYC. She is the founder/artistic director of the Institute of Collaboration and Play (www.ifcap.org) and the facilitator of its PLABORATORY (A Laboratory for Play). She has been a student of clown/physical theater since 1999, most notably with Christopher Bayes with whom she apprenticed in 2009 and whose pedagogy she teaches. Original performance work has been seen at The Public, Dixon Place, Jalopy, The Clown Theater Festival, FuseBox, IRT, Grahamstown National Arts Festival (South Africa) and many others. She leads residencies in clown, physical theater, collective creation and play-based making at universities, community arts organizations and actor training programs throughout the country and has been faculty and/or guest artist at Drew University, Middlebury College, Pace University, Georgetown, UNI, UTK and many others. She works closely with collaborator John Borstel exploring the intersectionality of interdisciplinary art practice and thinking.
