Emily Ball Cicchini

Emily Ball Cicchini has over 20 years of professional theater experience, including BoarsHead: Michigan Public Theatre, Capitol City Playhouse, The Cleveland Play House, Frontera @ Hyde Park Theatre, VSA arts, and Zach Theatre. In the mid-1990s, she co-founded ScriptWorks with dozens of exciting Austin playwrights. She has served on the boards of Texans For the Arts, The International Centre for Women Playwrights, and the Austin Creative Alliance.

At The University of Texas at Austin, she supports web-based multimedia projects, including Open Educational Resources funded by the Department of Education and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Several of these have been recognized for excellence by the New Media Consortium. A former James A. Michener Fellow in playwriting with an acting degree from the Goodman School of Drama, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication Studies with a focus on narrative theory in new media.

In addition, Emily is resident playwright at The Pollyanna Theatre Company, which has commissioned and quite beautifully produced many of her new plays for young audiences. She has also written, published and/or produced numerous video, film and animation projects, and often blogs about dreams and motherhood in haiku.
