Arts Education Activator and Advocate - Educator & Administrator

Margaret has had the privilege to work in arts education and advocacy for the last 10 years both nationally and internationally. Her work began in Pittsburgh, PA (Growing Theatre Outreach) and has moved to Dublin, Ireland (Project Arts Centre/Project Brand New), Morocco (RPCV '11-'13), Austin, TX (Just Imagine, Paramount Theatre, Smart Cookies, Creative Action, Zach Theatre, UT Austin), Milwaukee, WI (First Stage, Milwaukee Rep, Skylight Music Theatre), and now Chicago, IL where she serves as the Education and Community Engagement Manager at Northlight Theatre. Most notable accomplishments include implementing arts-based curriculum centered on women's empowerment in women's centers across Southwest Morocco, research on meaning making at the cross roads of political theatre and youth development for her master's thesis, and creating a skills-based summer workshop connecting local theatre students to Midwest professionals at Skylight Music Theatre. Her current interests are in teaching artist advocacy, anti-adultist pedagogy, and de-colonizing institutionally driven community-based theatre practices. BFA from Carnegie Mellon University (Directing), MA from UT Austin (Community-Based Art Education).
