The Write-a-Play program, celebrating twenty-one years at Florida Studio Theatre, is an in-school arts initiative designed to inspire your students to be creative and to write plays. Hilarious and heartfelt, these poignant tales are a compilation of plays by young writers performed by a cast of professional actors. Past winners include everything from comedies like The Adventures of Captain Captain to dramas like No War Can Tear Our Love Apart. Last year, over 55,000 youth participated in this program. This year Florida Studio Theatre received plays from over 4,000 young playwrights in the state of Florida and around the world (including Russia, Scotland, and Israel) for the Young Playwrights Festival, which takes place each spring culminating the program.
