This seminar hosted by Dramatists Guild of America was designed for composers whose work may be orchestrated by others, or who orchestrate their own work; aspiring orchestrators; other theatre creatives and professionals seeking to widen their general musical knowledge. Topics included: the transformation of lead sheets and/or piano music into orchestrated theatre music; conceiving and notating for the guitar and drum kit; vocal arranging; dealing with ensembles of various sizes, and choosing the right instrumentation. Several before and after examples of scores will be presented. The ability to read music is encouraged, but not absolutely essential.

Moderator Ned Paul Ginsburg is an NYC-based composer/orchestrator with over twenty years of experience working in theater and other media
