A conversation at the Pacific Playwrights Festival

South Coast Repertory presented a panel conversation: What Does It Mean to Be a Playwright in America Today? livestreamed on the commons-based peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Sunday 22 April at 9 a.m. PDT (Los Angeles) / 11 a.m. CDT (Chicago) / 12 p.m. EDT (New York).

Join us for a conversation with the 2018 festival playwrights, moderated by Skyler Gray, Victory Gardens Theater’s director of new play development. During the panel, Gray and the writers will discuss what it means to be a playwright in America today. As writers, do they feel the need to respond to the ever-changing political landscape? Why or why not? Do they feel a responsibility to tell certain stories in this time? The 2018 PPF playwrights include Kevin Artigue, Julia Doolittle, Amy Freed, Caroline V. McGraw, Qui Nguyen, Kemp Powers and Madhuri Shekar.
