Curation + Civic Transformation Convening
in Boston, MA
On 1-3 May 2020, HowlRound Theatre Commons and ArtsEmerson will gather 15-20 international presenters, artists, and creative producers in Boston, MA to explore the practices, challenges, and opportunities for theatre and performance that lives at the intersection of artistic excellence and committed civic engagement. We are bringing together curators who are balancing aesthetic risk with civic leadership, artists who are balancing ambitious artistic vision with deep commitment to equity and justice, and creative producers working to develop and support these works on tour.
ArtsEmerson is the professional presenting and producing organization of the Office of the Arts at Emerson College. Our mission is to engage all communities through stories that reveal and deepen our connection to each other. By cultivating diversity in the art and in the audience, we ignite public conversation around our most vexing societal challenges as a catalyst for overcoming them.
