Donnie Welch's Leaving Dynamite Workshop Performance in New Orleans—Saturday 10 Aug 2013
Leaving Dynamite is a new, original piece of slam poetry/monologue theatre exploring the recent trend of young American men to execute extreme, public acts of mass violence.
Donnie Welch, a 21-year-old Boston-based poet, has toured the country with his impassioned, uplifting, insightful, and distinctive poetry. His most recent work is a collection of children’s poetry, Who Gave These Flamingos Those Tuxedos?. Welch’s unique voice has energized a strong, fresh fan base throughout the country.
This presentation of Leaving Dynamite will be the culmination of an intense week-long development process in New Orleans, Louisiana with 22-year-old producer and director, Alex Ates.
The purpose of the presentation is to allow Welch and Ates to experiment with material in front of an audience, collect feedback, and refine the production so it can move on to the next stage of its development.
