I Blues by Italy's MatèTeatro at The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival in Provincetown—Saturday 22 September 2012
Italy's MatèTeatro was presented a performance of I Blues as part of The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Saturday 22 September 2012.
I Blues is four Tennessee Williams shorts infused with live music. From Bergamo, Italy, two actresses and three musicians have come to Provincetown, Massachusetts, to exalt the rhythm and blues of Williams with fourteen essential characters from four short plays: This Property Is Condemned, Portrait of a Madonna, The Unsatisfactory Supper, and The Dark Room. The live music—including bass, brass, and guitar—was conceived as a character, adding a language of its own.
The MatèTeatro company, now in its seventh year, was awarded the CRT Teatrodi Milano for this production's originality and emotional impact on the public. This is their first appearance in the US.
