The Martin E. Reza Abdoh (1963-1995) was an Iranian-born American director and playwright known for his large-scale, experimental theatrical productions. A prolific artist even in his short, creative life, Abdoh died of AIDS in 1995 at the age of 32, having created an impressive body of stage spectacles known for their sensory overload, ferocious energy, and hallucinatory dreamscapes. With his company Dar A Luz, formed in 1991, Abdoh created plays that have made a major impact on experimental theatre worldwide.

The panel discussion will be with Abdoh company members, Sabrina Artel, Anita Durst, Peter Jacobs, Tom Pearl, and the film’s co-producer, Sandy Cleary.

Twenty years after Reza Abdoh's passing, his company members, collaborators, friends and family have come together to create a film Reza Abdoh—Theatre Visionary that will share his legacy; his groundbreaking work and his visionary, theatrical genius.

Directed by Abdoh's long-time friend and collaborator, filmmaker Adam Soch, this feature-length documentary provides a window in to Abdoh, his company, his creative process, and his seminal productions by incorporating incredible live performance footage and interviews with those who were there.
