The Twin Cities Theatres of Color Coalition (TCTOCC) formed in 2014 to build knowledge, capacity, and take responsible action around the challenges and opportunities of diversification in the contemporary theatre landscape. Member organizations are led by, creating work about, and accountable to communities of color, including: Theater Mu, New Native Theatre, Pangea World Theater, Penumbra Theatre, and Teatro del Pueblo. TCTOCC leads conversations that shape American theatre, making available the wealth and depth of knowledge housed in these theatres through the dissemination of tools, practices, and consultation to bolster responsible and accountable engagement around the representation of communities of color. The Racial Equity Funders Collaborative(REFC) which includes individuals fromMcKnight, Jerome, St. Paul Foundation, Bush Foundation and Minnesota Community Foundationworks to develop racial equity within the Minnesota's arts and culture sector by developing synergistic strategies in philanthropy as informed by artists and arts and culture organizations in our communities. The collaborative is committed to ongoing learning and knowledge sharing; removing barriers to racial equity within our organizations; leveraging and growing our networks; and aligning and coordinating funding to support initiatives that increase racial equity. For the last two years, TCTOCC and REFC have been involved in deep and sustaining dialogues about best practices in partnering with theatres of color in the Twin Cities. Pangea World Theater and Art2Action, Inc. are proud to present this conversation about how theaters of color and philanthropy can work together to shift the conditions of inequity in the field, as part of the 2018 National Institute for Directing and Ensemble Creation.
