Vi Tran's The Butcher's Son, A Refugee Play & Performance Memoir at Westport Center for the Arts in Kansas City—Friday 15 August 2014


Westport Center for the Arts in Kansas City, Missouri presented The Butcher's Son—A Refugee Play & Performance Memoir—by Vi Tran livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Friday 15 August at 9 p.m. EDT/ 8 p.m. CDT/ 6 p.m. PDT. 
The world premiere of this musical performance memoir The Butcher's Son featured Vi Tran, Ai Vy Bui, and Erika Crane Ricketts. Presented at the Buffalo Room in Kansas City, MO by the Westport Center for the Arts and directed by Mackenzie Goodwin. 
Actor and writer Vi Tran utilizes drama, spoken word, slam poetry, and folk music to narrate his family's escape from Vietnam, through Khmer Rouge-controlled Cambodia, the refugee camps of Thailand and The Philippines, to their eventual arrival and new life in America.
