Mat Smart is a co-founder of Slant Theatre Project in New York City. Plays include: Tinker to Evers to Chance (premiering at Geva in May 2014), The Steadfast (Slant, published by DPS), Samuel J. and K. (Williamstown Theatre Festival, Steppenwolf, Passage Theatre), and The Hopper Collection (Magic, Huntington). He is the recipient of the 2014 Otis Guernsey New Voices Award from the William Inge Center for the Arts. He saw Rickey Henderson’s 3,000th hit, Sammy Sosa’s 536-foot home run at Wrigley, and the last game at old Yankee Stadium.
