Playwright - Director - Producer - Teacher

Born and raised in Wales as a fluent Welsh language speaker, Mêlisa has been based in Brooklyn, NY for over fifteen years.

As a playwright her plays, radio plays and musicals have been developed and presented at and with Playwrights Horizons, BMG, Rosalind Productions, Primary Stages, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Parity Productions, The Lark, Clutch Productions, Parsnip Ship, The New School, The National Arts Club, The Playground Experiment, Rattlestick Theater...

As a director, Mêlisa has worked at Athena Film Festival at Bard NY, The Museum of Moving Image NY, Sloan Foundation, The Arcola Theater London, The Ambassadors Group, London, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center CO, Primary Stages NY, Shadowland Stages NY, Tangent Theater NY, Queens College NY, The Abingdon NY, Rebellious Subjects NY, Theater Masters CO and FL.

As a producer, Mêlisa has produced several readings, workshops and most recently the movie "Glimpse" by Theresa Rebeck and The Waves in Quarantine by Lisa Peterson with Berkeley Rep Theater, CA.

Mêlisa also teaches at NYU Tisch at the Department of Dramatic Writing, and ESPA for Primary Stages.

Does my play choose the title, or does that first title inform my play? At fourteen pages in, who knows what will happen to these characters? Who knows what will happen in this world? How do you title your plays?
