Panel Writing for Disability at Dramatists Guild of America (ASL Interpreted)

The Dramatists Guild of America presented the panel discussion Writing for Disability livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Tuesday 23 September at 5:30 p.m. EDT (New York) / 10:30 p.m. BST (London) / 2:30 p.m. PDT (Vancouver) / 4:30 p.m. CDT (Chicago) / 21:30 GMT.

Howard Sherman, Acting Director of the Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts, will lead a panel discussion on writing for disability. Topics to be explored include creating characters with disability, writing with authenticity about disability issues, having roles not conceived of as having a disability filled with a disabled actor, and advocating for actors with disabilities to play roles that portray disability. This will be a lively and provocative conversation. Panelists include Christopher Shinn and Christine Toy Johnson.
