The Los Angeles Theatre Center presented the 2017 Encuentro de las Américas Devised Performances livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Sunday 19 November 2017 at 9 a.m. PST (Los Angeles) / 11 a.m. CST (Chicago) / 12 p.m. EST (New York).
This was a special livestreamed session of the devised performances from the artists of the 2017 Encuentro de las Américas International Theatre Festival. Over the past three weeks, over 100 artists from Latin America, Canada, and the US worked together to devise short performance pieces around relevant social topics, including gun violence, conservation, heartbreak, and mental illness. On the closing day of the Festival, they performed their pieces from the Los Angeles Theatre Center for a one-time-only experience.
