We Want You at the 2014 LTC National Convening!

If you’ve been following our previous Café Onda publications, you might have seen the constant reference to the much-anticipated 2014 Latina/o Theatre Commons (LTC) National Convening at the Los Angeles Theatre Center 2014 Encuentro, November 6-10, 2014. Here’s why: The LATC 2014 Encuentro is the largest National Latina/o Theater Festival in over twenty-five years!

To understand the deep impact Latina/o artists have had in our collective history, it is crucial to discuss the varied artistic expressions that exist within the polycultural Latina/o theater landscape. The Encuentro seeks to understand how and why we arrive to each form—be it community-based, avant-garde, ensemble-based, playwright-driven, devised, or experimental work.

This historic event will present fifteen aesthetically significant dramatic works—each produced by a different regional Latina/o theater company or solo artist—that will showcase the complexity of the Latina/o experience. The goal of the 2014 LTC National Convening is for participants to see the festival productions and have an opportunity to engage in dialogue around art making and aesthetics.

Café Onda is happy to share the announcement of one way to get involved in the National Convening and Encuentro. We want you to join us! Please pass this post along to your fellow art-makers and encourage them to apply:
