Chay Yew

Chay Yew is the Artistic Director of Victory Gardens Theater is Chicago. His plays have been produced at the Royal Court, Public Theater, Mark Taper Forum, Manhattan Theatre Club, Long Wharf Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Wilma Theatre, Fattore K and Napoli Teatro Festival, amongst others. As a director, he has directed productions at Public Theater, Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Kennedy Center, Mark Taper Forum, Goodman Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Conservatory Theatre, Long Wharf, Huntington Theatre and others. His collection of plays, “The Hyphenated American Plays” and “Porcelain and A Language of Their Own,” are published by Grove Press. He recently edited the anthology “Version 3.0: Contemporary Asian American Plays” for TCG Publications. He is the recipient of the OBIE Award for Direction and the London Fringe Award for Best Play. An alumnus of New Dramatists, he presently serves on the Executive Board on the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
