Paula Vogel

Paula Vogel’s most recent projects include a collaboration with director Rebecca Taichman on a commission from Yale Repertory and Oregon Shakespeare (American Revolutions: The United States History Cycle): Rehearsing Vengeance. She is working on a project with Blanka Ziska and the Wilma Theatre, which will involve workshops with veterans in Philadelphia and the creation of a new play, Don Juan Comes Home from Iraq, opening in March 2014.

In addition, Paula Vogel continues her “bootcamps”, playwriting intensives, with theatre companies, organizations, board members, subscribers,  and writers across the country. 

Paula Vogel's play, How I Learned to Drive, received the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Lortel Prize, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and New York Drama Critics Awards for Best Play, as well as winning her second OBIE. Her other plays include A Civil War Christmas (to be produced at Center Stage, November 2013), The Long Christmas Ride Home, The Mineola Twins, The Baltimore Waltz, Hot'N'Throbbing, Desdemona, And Baby Makes Seven and The Oldest Profession.

She has been the Chair of Playwriting at Yale School of Drama (2008-2011) and Director of Playwriting at Brown University (1984-2008).
