Working with disabled artists to create a more accessible theater industry.

Alexis Wilner (she/her) is a scenic designer and arts accessibility advocate from New Jersey. She is a 2024 graduate from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in drama and a minor in disability studies. In 2022, Alexis worked on the access team for the world premiere of How to Dance in Ohio during its run at Syracuse Stage. The same year, she organized Access Arts SU, a gallery and cabaret night showcasing art by disabled students, staff, and faculty from the Syracuse University community. Her honors thesis, centered on accessibility for disabled theatre artists in the US, was awarded the David Orlin Prize for Overall Outstanding Thesis Project. As a disabled artist herself, Alexis hopes to combine her theatrical endeavors and advocacy work to create a more accessible industry. Currently, Alexis is working as the Scenic, Paints, and Props Apprentice at Trinity Repertory Company in Rhode Island.
