Ariel Fristoe

Ariel Fristoe is a founding member and Co-Artistic Director of Out Of Hand Theater. With Out Of Hand, Ariel has developed 30 Below, HELP!, Meds (Atlanta Journal-Constitution Top 10 Plays of 2007, Sunday Paper Best Ensemble, Best Director, Best Design 2007), Lab Coats, The VD Show, Stadium 360, The Game, Hominid, Group Intelligence (Creative Loafing’s Best Theatrical Experiment 2011) directed and acted in 30 Below, and Nobody Here But Us Chickens, acted in Stadium 360, Meds, HELP!, Cartoon, Live Nude Bouffons, and The VD Show, and directed Big Love (Creative Loafing Top 10 Plays of 2003), Alcestis, Miss Julie, Indiscretions (Atlanta Journal-Constitution Best of 2001), Hominid, and Stop Me Because I Can’t Stop Myself. Other directing credits include Theater Emory, Jewish Theatre of the South, Theatre du Reve and the National Black Arts Festival. Acting credits include Actor’s Express, Arkansas Repertory, Jewish Theatre of the South, Geva Theatre and Theatrical Outfit. Ariel holds a BA in Theater and French, summa cum laude, from Emory University, where she received the Lewis Sudler Prize in the Arts and the Friends of Theater Emory Most Valuable Collaborator Award in 1998. Ariel was a 2004 Finalist for the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors, and a winner of the Loridans Artist Encouragement Award 2009. In 2010 she was the runner up for Best Local Director by The Sunday Paper. Ariel teaches Introduction to Theater and Arts Administration at Emory University.
