Brett is a life-long professional (writer, director, stage manager (AEA) and Managing Director) currently employed at Carnegie Mellon University teaching for the future and offering insight to institutions and accidental techies via the Arts Management and Technology Lab, a research center connecting innovation and knowledge (http://www.amt-lab.org)

Dr. Brett Ashley Crawford is an Associate Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University and serves as the Executive Director of the Arts Management and Technology Laboratory. Her research and consulting interests circulate in the realms of audiences, engagement /user experience, external relations, gender and management, and technology ecosystems. She holds an MFA in arts administration and a PhD in theatre history and criticism. She has 25 years of professional theatre experience as an AEA stage manager, director, writer, and theatre manager in New York, Georgia, Tennessee, and Maryland/DC. She served as managing director for 3 institutions, the last being Imagination Stage in Bethesda, MD (2006-2012). She has presented lectures and workshops to international and domestic audiences including the University of Helsinki, TCG, APAP, National Arts Marketing Project, Association for Theatre in Higher Education, t and the Center for Cultural Studies at UC Santa Cruz.
