Charles Douglas

Charles is a Canadian creative and educator.

Charles Douglas is an actor, movement and fight director, and teacher who is passionately curious. He is a Chevening Alumnus and a Fellow of the RSA.

Charles' research and practice aim to catalyze future forms of storytelling. In addition to working within performance capture and XR mediums, he supports the innovative research and development taking place at the Screen Industries Research and Training (SIRT) Centre. In 2019, Charles represented SIRT as a featured attendee at HowlRound and SpiderWebShow's Digital + Performance Convening (FoldA Festival - Kingston, ON). He also notably contributed to The Digital Stage, which was pursued by SIRT, The National Ballet of Canada, and the Canadian Opera Company. Charles teaches actors at the Vancouver Film School, animators at Central Saint Martins, and also enjoys working within traditional theatre. He has performed several times for the National Arts Centre of Canada's English Theatre company.

Charles holds an MA in Movement: Directing and Teaching (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), an Honours BA in Music Theatre Performance (Sheridan College), and a B.Ed. in Artist in Community Education (Queen's University). Charles has also trained with Michael Chekhov Europe, The Chekhov Collective (UK), Michael Chekhov Studio London, The Michael Chekhov Association, Frantic Assembly, Shapes in Motion, PCA UK, and Fight Directors Canada.
