Cindy Rosenthal

Cindy Rosenthal is a director and actor and a Professor of Drama and Dance at Hofstra University, where she directed the world premiere of Isaac Rathbone’s Undeclared History and the first performance of The March of the Bonus Army, which was commissioned in honor of the 2012 Presidential Debate. She recently directed Cynthia Sophiea’s Everyone Has Tears at the The Barrow Group Theatre. A founding member of the Bread Loaf Acting Ensemble, her credits include Troilus and Cressida (Nestor), Our Town (Mrs. Webb) and Hamlet (Gertrude). Her writing on the theater has been published in The New York Times, TDR and Women and Performance and her book Ellen Stewart Presents: Fifty Years of La MaMa Experimental Theatre is forthcoming from University of Michigan Press. She received her PhD from NYU/ Tisch.
