David Somló is a performance maker and sound artist-educator based in Budapest, focusing on spatial-relational practices

Dávid Somló is a performance maker and sound artist based in Budapest. His spatial-relational works—ranging from sound choreographies to participatory installations—have been presented at major international festivals, including Festival d’Avignon (FR), Prague Quadrennial (CZ), Passage Festival (DK), FiraTàrrega (ES), D-CAF (EG), and FIME São Paulo (BR).

He is an associate artist of the IN SITU European platform for artistic creation in public space and of Placcc Festival. In 2024–2025, he is a resident artist in the “Green Streets of Europe” series.

Somló holds an MMus in Creative Composition from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MA in Sociology. He completed his PhD-in-Practice at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts with a dissertation titled Transdisciplinary Approaches of Spatiality in Performance.

He is a lead teacher of Performance Studies at FreeSZFE and teaches at the Budapest Contemporary Dance College, focusing on interdisciplinary composition, sound performativity, and site-specific practice.
