Ebony Noelle Golden

NOW! Harlem resident and Houston native, Ebony Noelle Golden, works at the intersection of art, culture and public education with individuals, communities and organizations seeking to build creative strategy, cultural performance and liberatory learning experiences for progressive social change. She is a conceptual performance artists and creative entrepreneur, who founded and serves as the director of Betty’s Daughter Arts Collaborative, LLC and Body Ecology Performance Ensemble. She earned a B.A. in Literature and Creative Writing from Texas A&M University, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing-Poetry from American University, and an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.  Currently, Ebony serves on the advisory committee for the We Shall Overcome and the board for Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed, International. www.bettysdaughterarts.com.

The Real Danger

A Movement for Black Liberation Theatre

The real danger in building a rigorous, black liberation theater movement is rooted in the reality that the powers that be won’t be able to contain it on stage or anywhere else. Why? Because the "rehearsal of the revolution" will cease and the revolution in the streets, hearts, minds and sensibilities of the people will begin. It will be a new day.
