Founder and Producing Artistic Director of HERO Theatre in Los Angeles and Teatro Heroé in Bogotá, Colombia.

Elisa Bocanegra is a producer-director-actor with a long history of performing in theatre and film. In 2000, her debut film GIRLFIGHT starring Michelle Rodriguez won Best Film at the Sundance Film Festival. She began her acting career at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre and later worked at theatres such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Williamstown, and The Roundabout. The LA Times named Elisa a "power player" in an article titled LA Vanguardia: The Latino Innovators, Instigators, and Power Players Breaking Through Barriers. She is a Fulbright scholar and has a PhD in Sustainability Education and an MFA in Social and Environmental Arts Practice.
