Guillermo Aviles-Rodriguez is a freelance writer and director based in Los Angeles. He holds a BFA from the University of Utah and an MFA from UC San Diego. Guillermo grew up in Watts and holds the distinction of being the first Chicana/o ever to star in a main stage production at the University of Utah. In 2010 Guillermo conceived and directed Meet Me @Metro an interdisciplinary transit oriented performance piece on and around the LA Metro rail system. He has authored two Student Discovery Guides commissioned by Center Theatre Group: En Un Sol Amarillo and Culture Clash's Palestine, New Mexico. His study of theater has taken him all over the Americas and to Cuba where he conducted research and directed in 2001. He is currently working on Towards a Moving Theatre a book exploring exoteric theater in America.
