
Artist and Educator dedicated to creating equitable access to theatre through exploration and innovation.
Janet Neely has had a dual career working in theater and higher education. She started by directing poets in “full contact poetry", a performance art/poetry reading with pieces performed at the Trenton Avant-garde Festival, the New York International Fringe Festival, and CB GBs in New York City. Her directing credits includes new pieces, musical, and plays. As an educator at Emerson College, The Boston Conservatory, and Salem State University, her courses include Perspectives on World Dance, Intro to Acting, Voice and Movement, Scene Study, Industrial Psychology, Communications, and Public Speaking. A member of the board of What Fray Was Here, a group dedicated to combining Shakespeare and Hip-Hop, she is co-teaching a Hip-Hop Shakespeare course at Emerson College in the fall of 2022. Most Recently she studied Suzuki and Viewpoints with PETE in Portland, OR, and received her MFA in Theatre Education and Applied Theatre from Emerson College.
