Jennifer Barclay is a DC-based playwright, NNPN Affiliated Artist, Dramatists Guild Member, Co-Founder / Co-Director of the Not Beckett International Festival, and an Associate Professor of Playwriting at the University of Maryland where she heads Theatre Performance.
Jennifer Barclay is a Washington, DC-based playwright. Her play Ripe Frenzy won the National New Play Network (NNPN) Smith Prize & Dramatists Guild Fund Writers Alliance Grant & had a 2018 NNPN Rolling World Premiere across the U.S. Her plays have been produced / developed by Woolly Mammoth, Steppenwolf, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, The Kennedy Center, Center Stage, The International Theatre of Vienna and The Edinburgh Fringe, among others. Other awards: Samuel Goldwyn, Kennedy Center and Pinter Review. Fellowships: MacDowell Colony (twice), Hawthornden International Writers Retreat. Residencies: South Coast Rep, Center Stage, Arena Stage. Education: Northwestern University (BS) & UC San Diego (MFA with Naomi Iizuka). She’s currently the Co-Creative Director / Co-Founder of the 2024-25 four-country year-long Not Beckett International Rolling World Premiere festival.
