Jennifer Skura Boutell

Jennifer (she/they) is a queer woman, mother, published writer, experienced actor, theatremaker, and teaching artist who grew up in Texas, lived in California, started a family in New York, and now lives in Georgia. Throughout her career, she has had the honor of collaborating with award-winning creators and innovators. She has received funding and merit-based aid for her own work as well, including scholarships for both of her degrees, various residencies, and support. She is also founder of FADlab, a writing residency at Windmill Arts in Atlanta, GA and through a recent grant for continued learning, Jennifer will is earning an M.A. in mental health counseling at Agnes Scott College. It is Jennifer's passion to help enhance the lives of others by sharing her creative education through effective collaboration in telling impactful stories.

Family Making Theatre About Family in Pearls for Spurs

Monk Parrots recently produced Gates Leonard’s Pearls for Spurs, a new play about a dysfunctional family. The play was inspired by Gates’s own life and directed by her father, Luke. Jennifer Skura Boutell interviews the father-daughter duo about what it was like to work together on the personal, traumatic material in this play.
