Jhett D. Tolentino

Jhett D. Tolentino was born, raised and educated in Iloilo City, Philippines. He's the youngest of four children by a beautician and a public transportation driver. Jhett earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree from the University of Iloilo in 1997 and debuted on Broadway in March 2013 with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike with Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce. Three months later, he won his first Tony Award for that play. He picked up two more Tony Awards the following year for producing the Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and the Best Play Revival, A Raisin in the Sun, starring Denzel Washington. He also has two Drama Desk Awards, two Broadway League Awards, three Outer Critic Circle Awards, one Off-Broadway Alliance Award and two Grammy Award recognitions for the Grammy nominated cast albums of Matilda the musical and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. He was awarded The Outstanding Filipino American - New York in Entertainment category in October 2014 at the Carnegie Hall. He was knighted to the Order of the Knights of Rizal - New York Chapter on June 19, 2015. He is the first Filipino Tony Award voter.
