Joel Schechter

Joel Schechter has written books about theatrical satire and circus clowning, including Durov's Pig, Messiahs of 1933, Eighteenth-Century Brechtians, and most recently, Satire (Methuen, 2021).

Joel Schechter, Emeritus Professor of Theatre and Dance at San Francisco State University, taught dramatic literature, dramaturgy and theatre history for several decades at SFSU and the Yale School of Drama, where he also edited the journal Theater.
