Jose Solís is a cultural critic, educator, and founder of the BIPOC Critics Lab. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Backstage, Salon, The Washington Post, The Toronto Star, and other outlets, where he's written about theatre, film, and culture. Born in Honduras and now based in Europe, Jose is dedicated to reimagining criticism and amplifying BIPOC voices in the arts. In 2020, he created the BIPOC Critics Lab, a pioneering program that has supported emerging critics of color internationally. He also created and produced the podcasts Token Theatre Friends and Vermuteatreros, and currently serves as a facilitator for Page Turn, a professional development network for emerging performing arts critics across Canada. Jose is currently pursuing a PhD at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid on the Lab’s impact in the arts.
