
Julia Bumke is a dramaturg, writer, and theatermaker specializing in new works of music theater and opera. She is based in Philadelphia and New York.
Julia is a Philadelphia-based new work dramaturg and director who is passionate about fostering composers, librettists, and playwrights at all stages of their careers. Her recent dramaturgy projects include premieres and workshops with Opera Philadelphia, PEAK Performances at Montclair State University (also Assistant Director), the American Repertory Theater, Lincoln Center Theater, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, Music-Theatre Group, and the Virginia Arts Festival, among others. Julia also designs supertitles for world premiere operas, with recent designs for B.A.M. Next Wave, Opera Philadelphia, and PEAK Performances.
