Kaite O'Reilly is a leading figure in disability arts and culture, and has written extensively on “cripping up” for The Guardian, HowlRound, The Stage, and in academic books by Routledge. She is an award winning playwright and winner of The Ted Hughes Award for new works in poetry for her re-imagining of Aeschylus’s Persians for National Theatre Wales. Now she reimagines Richard with fellow disabled theatre practitioners in richard iii redux OR Sara Beer is/not Richard III with The Llanarth Group, premiering on international women’s day, 8 March 2018. She is recipient of a prestigious 2017/18 Creative Wales Award to explore the performative power of words with music, and an Unlimited International Commission to realize And Suddenly I Disappear: The Singapore/UK ‘d’ Monologues, premiering in Singapore in May 2018 and livestreamed by HowlRound TV. The production will then transfer to London’s Southbank Centre in September 2018 for the Unlimited Festival before touring the UK.
