Kate is a member of the 2025 Re-Write the Bi-Line Narrative Change cohort whose work has been published in Hollywood Progressive and Coin Operated Press. Her Shakespeare practice and research combines nervous system science with historic and contemporary rehearsal practices, and uses Shakespeare's shrews as a way to improve understanding of the Autistic femme experience.
Kate Andrews is an award-winning Shakespeare actor, director, educator and writer specialising in classical performance, access-led rehearsal practice and neurodivergent approaches to Shakespeare. Her work spans performance, public engagement and research at the intersection of Shakespeare, embodiment and contemporary rehearsal methodologies, including being the first openly Autistic actor to play Hamlet and being widely described to have "solved" problem play Taming of the Shrew with her consent-based project Shrew: The Experiment.
They hold a First Class degree in Contemporary Performance with minors in Applied Theatre and Education from the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and a Royal Shakespeare Company/University of Birmingham Advanced Certificate in Teaching Shakespeare.
