Katie is the Director of Capital Projects for the New York State Council on the Arts. 

Katie Steger is the Director of Capital Projects at the NY State Council on the Arts, where she oversees grantmaking to nonprofit arts organizations for construction and renovation of cultural facilities across New York State. She is a doctoral candidate in Sociology at New York University, where her research focuses on the sociology of organizations and inequality in the arts and philanthropy. Katie previously managed theater grantmaking and special projects for the Arts and Cultural Heritage program at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.  She holds an MPA in Public Policy Analysis from New York University, and a BA in Film and Media Production from Emerson College. She has nearly 20 years of experience working in philanthropy and the arts, where she has conducted research, driven strategy and program development, and led grantmaking programs in capital projects, regional economic development, and multiple arts disciplines, in both the public and nonprofit sectors.
