Laura Cahill

Laura Cahill is an Emmy-nominated writer and teacher from New York City. She’s the founder of Young Playwrights Ukraine and Cahill Writers Lab. She received nominations for Emmy, Independent Spirit and Writers’ Guild Awards for HBO’s Hysterical Blindness, which she adapted from her critically acclaimed Off- Broadway play. She’s also developed pilot scripts and screenplays for HBO, Warner Brothers, Paramount. ABC, Touchstone, USA, IFC, Twentieth Century Fox, Miramax, CBS, and Lifetime. Her plays Mercy, Home, Sondra, Sad and Serious News, Jersey Girls Go to the Park and The Way have been produced or workshopped at The Vineyard Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theater, Naked Angels, and New Harmony Project, among others, as well as theaters around the country and around the world. Her plays have been published by Dramatists Play Service, Applause Books, and Smith and Kraus. Young Playwrights Ukraine’s plays have been performed by noted actors for worldwide Zoom audiences, as well as at The Vineyard Theater and Segal Theater in New York. Her students have gone on to work in theater, film and TV. She is a lifetime member of WGA East.
