Maiya Murphy

Maiya Murphy is a scholar-artist interested in the intersection between physical theater practices, cognitive science, and philosophy. She was a contributor to Collective Creation in Contemporary Performance (Kathryn Mederos Syssoyeva and Scott Proudfit, eds.), and The Oxford Handbook of Dance and Theater (Nadine George-Graves, ed.) In addition to performing, devising, and directing, she was the founding Administrative Director for Naropa University’s MFA Theater program. At UC San Diego, where she received her PhD, she received a UC President’s Graduate Fellowship. She studied Lecoq-based training at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA), and received her BA from Yale University.
