Palestinian, African, trans, disabled drag artist, producer, actor, dancer, and community organizer, as well as the cofounder of TheHalaCollective.com.
Mama Ganuush is a Palestinian-African trans drag artist, community organizer, and activist who uses their art to fight for liberation and amplify marginalized voices. As a survivor of conversion therapy and someone living with multiple sclerosis, their work advocates for queer, disabled, and Palestinian rights. Their drag style draws on the elegance of Egyptian golden-era belly dance, Palestinian folk traditions, and the spontaneity of improv theater. Mama Ganuush co-founded the HALA Collective, supporting artists who challenge oppression and colonialism. Their key projects include Cabaret Palestina, Salon HALA, Pink Wash Comrades’ Dance Party, Opera Palestina, and Vocal AF, all of which provide platforms for intersectional activism. Through these artistic endeavors, they seek to empower communities and create spaces for resistance and joy.
