Mariló Núñez
She/Her

Mariló Núñez is a Chilean-Canadian director, dramaturge, playwright, and scholar. She is a recipient of the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Award in Theatre and the Hamilton Arts Award in Theatre for Established Artists. She has been a member of playwright units at Factory Theatre, Tarragon Theatre, Cahoots Theatre, and Nightwood Theatre, and was playwright-in-residence at Aluna Theatre and Carousel Players. She was McMaster University’s first Playwright-in-Residence in 2018. Recent work: Guest Director 4th year Final Production, Unity 1918 (University of Winnipeg), Director/Dramaturge for Project X in 2024, 2025 (Tarragon Theatre/ TMU), Dramaturge-in-Residence (Polyphonic Playwright Residency, Rice & Beans Theatre, Vancouver), Dramaturge-in-Residence (PARC Playwright Residency, Sackville, NB), Director: New Wave Your Behaviour (Hamilton, Victoria, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kingston Fringes), One Perfect Day (Caminos Festival/Aluna), Josephs (Centre for Indigenous Theatre).  She teaches playwriting at theatres and universities across the country using the Fornes Method. She was the founding Artistic Director of Alameda Theatre Company, dedicated to developing the new work of Latinx Canadian playwrights. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph and is currently pursuing her PhD in Theatre & Performance Studies at York University.
